Discover the regional wines of the Mediterranean which are
wonderful, affordable and easy to drink. Working with local
distributors our chef has edited a selection of his favorite pours
from some traditional places and some out of the way spots.
Choose from the wines of the south-central coast of France -
including the Languedoc and Roussillon as well as Minervois and
Corbieres - plus Spain's Rioja, Catalunya and Pendedes (famous for
sparkling wines) and so much more!
Featured this month are French wines from Piat, Fortant de
France, Reserve St. Martin and Les Jamelles as well as Spain's
Marino El Vino.
House wines to include ...
- Piat 1994 Chardonnay:
New from the Languedoc and labeled as a Vins de Pays, these
varietals are soft but fruity and make for a nicely balanced
- Piat 1994 Merlot:
A big-styled and concentrated wine to enjoy with grilled meats. This
is a hearty, robust and luscious red.
- Marino El Vino Tinto del Mediterranean:
Made from tempranillo, Spain's red grape, this wine is rich with a
spiciness on the palate that gives it an extra dimension. Choose
also a dry and flavorful Bodegas Berberana rose that is non-vintaged
but simply delicious.
- Marino El Vino Blanco del Mediterranean:
A pleasing, drinkable white from Bodegas Berberana in Rioja is
light, clean and fresh and perfect for local seafood.
We plan to schedule monthly tastings and wine dinners at Restaurant
Paul K to help share our passion for discovering new wines and
remembering old favorites.
Paul K Restaurant will offer a survey of wines from Corsica (Nielluccio),
Sardinia, and Sicily (Nero D'Avola) plus fortified wines like
Banyuls from the Pyrenees - where France meets Spain. Perfect with
desserts, a bottle of Banyuls is similar to Port and pairs nicely
with chocolate. our chef will craft a number of desserts to enjoy
with this special tasting.
